How We Know When a Root Canal Is Needed
When you come in for an evaluation, we will check to see if root canal treatment is necessary. In cases where a root canal is needed, there is noticeable decay and infection inside of the tooth where the nerves and pulp exist. We can see this problem using non-invasive, high-tech equipment. After establishing that a tooth is infected, we will make plans to clean out the interior of the tooth, eliminating the cause of the infection. This is done by making a small hole in the tooth, and then using instruments to clean out and sanitize the interior of the tooth. After this procedure is finished, a temporary material will be inserted into the tooth to fill the empty area. In about a week, you will return so the temporary material can be removed and Dr. Parvin can ensure the site contains no more infection. Then, a permanent bonding material will be placed into the tooth, sealing it completely.
The process is very safe, and most people are pleased that they no longer have the pain or swelling that is associated with a tooth abscess or other infection.
